In the know with Marshall McGuire
Director of Programming Marshall McGuire shares his Season Four: Blossom picks with you.
In the Primrose Potter Salon:
Our Relaxed Performances are always a joy, for young and old alike. Designed to be performed in a manner that allows any and all audiences who may not feel comfortable or able to attend other programs, the musicians and Front of House team are trained to look after different needs and make sure that everyone can enjoy music at the Centre. There’s one more opportunity in December to come along to this wonderful daytime concert series. ARIA Award winner Zulya and her band the Children of the Underground will perform their eclectic euro-cabaret jazz.
The Relaxed Performance series is supported by the William Buckland Foundation and the Calvert-Jones Foundation.
In the Elizabeth Murdoch Hall:
In another of our series of First Nations programs, Yorta-Yorta trailblazer and Centre board member Deborah Cheetham AO performs the Woven Song series inspired by tapestries hanging in Australian embassies in Singapore, Japan, France, Ireland, China and India. Expect unusual instrumentation and intricate harmonies, performed by some of Melbourne’s leading musicians.
Something to share:
James Ehnes and Andrew Armstrong’s compelling Beethoven violin and piano sonata performances have been a long time coming, originally programmed as part of our Beethoven250 celebrations in 2020. Beethoven’s music remains as powerful and fresh as it was when premiered in Vienna over 200 years ago. This a chance to experience our spaces at their very best, with great performers and a fabulous experience for regular audiences, as well as newcomers to the Centre. Take your guests up to the Level 2 foyer for spectacular nighttime city views in the intervals.
The Great Performers Series is supported by Program Partners, The Langham Melbourne.
