2022 Great Romantics Competition

2022 Great Romantics Competition

In early September we were delighted to present the return of our Great Romantics Competition to the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall stage.

This was the first time since 2019 that the competition finals have taken place as a live event. Six talented finalists aged 18-30 years old from around the country dazzled us with their music making, with three taking home the following prizes:

  • Elisabeth Murdoch Prize: Reuben Tsang, piano
  • Anne Kantor Encouragement Award: Andrew Wang, violin
  • Milan Kantor Encouragement Award: Andre Oberleuter, bassoon

You can watch the performances online on Melbourne Recital Centre’s YouTube channel

It’s heartwarming to see that the future of music is looking so bright, and there is no doubt that we will see many of these young artists return to our stages throughout their careers.

The Great Romantics Competition is supported by Mrs Margaret S. Ross AM and Dr. Ian C. Ross, Ms Julie Kantor AO and in partnership with the Peninsula Summer Music Festival.
