Seeing From Within: The Life of Barbara Blackman

Seeing From Within: The Life of Barbara Blackman

Musicians who perform at Melbourne Recital Centre are regularly inspired by the wonderful painting Fifty Flowers (1978) by Charles Blackman that hangs proudly in the backstage Green Room. The painting was generously donated to the Centre in 2014 by Barbara Blackman who was inspired to make this extraordinary gift by the example of Founding Patron, Dame Elisabeth Murdoch.

Friends of Melbourne Recital Centre interested in learning more about Barbara Blackman’s extraordinary life may enjoy a special screening of Seeing From Within: The Life of Barbara Blackman at the Palace Cinema Como on Wednesday 18 July. Several important scenes in this candid and intimate documentary were filmed in Elisabeth Murdoch Hall.
