2018 Bach Competition Winners

Melbourne Recital Centre’s Bach Competition is dedicated to young musicians passionate about German composer J.S. Bach. On Sunday 17 June 2018, ten talented young finalists took to the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall stage to compete for a range of cash prizes and learning opportunities.

Dandan (Jingfei) Wang (violin) won the $2000 Richard Mills first prize while the two encouragement awards were awarded to Dindin (Jingji) Wang (violin) and Zhihan Jiang (piano). The Australian Bach Society Award went to Marcus Michelson (violin), and Patricia Thompson (trumpet) was presented with the Newsboys Foundation Regional Music Award valued at $5000, which includes travel, accommodation, specialist tuition, concert tickets and mentoring opportunities.
